AEgis Technologies
and DigitalGlobe Build
Free 3-D Database of Haiti
After the 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti, DigitalGlobe asked AEgis Technologies to create a three dimensional database of the country for distributing to all government and humanitarian agencies for their continued rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts.
Scott Allman, Director of Geospatial Programs, and his team, including Jana Sankova and Jason Rader, created 3-D images of Haiti before and after the destruction. The decision was then made to offer the database for free by distributing it to agencies around the world
“DigitalGlobe, who has the highest resolution satellite constellation in the world, provided us with amazing imagery over Haiti. With their ability to collect imagery, anywhere in the world...it showed that a commercial company had the ability to help in a time sensitive disaster such as this...a reaction like that makes huge changes - it's relevant," Allman said.
“We felt it was the right thing to do. And we’re happy that AEgis Technologies can help the people of Haiti in some way,” Allman added.
